This page was made with the intention of showing the common use-cases of tags. The tags present in this list may or may not be up to date (last updated: March 7, 2024).
Building tags are present in the item-table as well as in the blueprint for each building piece. Tags in the blueprints for the building pieces determine what type of building piece the blueprint is, and also what building pieces it should ignore collision for when placing the piece, as well as what building pieces it may upgrade to/from.

Loot is very often distributed through categorization of what kind of profession is most likely to have access to the item/s, as well as what Tier the items belong to. For that purpose, we implemented several profession-loot tables.
A note about tiers: While T1-T4 are traditionally accessible, T4 is considered very high level (Star metal, etc) and T5 is considered rare items and legendaries and is very rarely used as part of loot-tables.

Most items also have a variety of item-tags. Primarily, these are used for sorting or inventory management but many of them also allow for easy searches in the item-table or are used in the Journey-system, amongst other things.
Resource tags are split into two primary sub-tags: “Item.Component” and “Item.Resource”. The Component tag is for anything that is a crafted result (and also not a resource), while Item.Resource is used for resources gained in the world from harvesting resource nodes (excluding food from animals).
Resources are a big category, and contains tags that may be very specific to an item, or generalized. It should still be very easy to understand which is which though.

Components are usually only marked as “Item.Component” but there are a few specific components that are marked because they are used for sorting options and/or loot-purposes.

Weapon tags contain weapons, weapon modifications, and epic tier ingredients for making them. This is to facilitate some Journey steps. It’s also very important to assign the correct tags to weapons for placement in display racks, assigning correct combos to NPCs. Many systems use the weapon tags and it’s important to assign the correct tags for them.

Known inconsistency : you may notice that there is no “Item.Steel” or “Item.HardenedSteel” categories listed above.
